Bowzer Box? Yes Please!!!

Almost every pet parent has a cupboard somewhere in their home that is set aside for treats, am I right? And, because we all love to spoil our fur babies, we probably all have a good collection of toys scattered around on the floor or overflowing a box in the living room too!

When the treats start to run out and the toys get worn out or lost, what's your favourite way to replace them? Do you make a special trip to a pet themed shop to get high quality treats and toys or, is shopping online more your thing? Regardless of which method you use to keep that treat cupboard full, the bottom line is high quality and a price tag that won't break the bank.

Knowing these things are important to pet parents is part of the reason that The Pack Project is aligning with Bowzer Box. The other factors are that Bowzer Box is a Canadian based company that believes in delivering quality products AND the fact that they support rescue and advocacy groups.

That's right! By subscribing to Bowzer Box, you are saving time and money, getting amazing treats and fun toys delivered to your home or office and; supporting Canadian business growth as well as helping dogs in need.

How's that for super hero type multi-tasking for you? You're a few mouse clicks away from making it all happen! Bowzer Box has set us up with our own link and coupon code which is PACKPRO‬, so please check us out and, if it looks good to you, sign up for a subscription that works for you. Remember, the coupon code is case sensitive so make sure you are using all caps.
Giving the gift of a Bowzer Box is an available option too so if you know a special pooch who you don't get to see much, go ahead and send a monthly gift! Or, set up a subscription to donate to our dogs in foster care, here is the ship to address:

Nacho Paws & other freaky Fido Facts

Ever been snuggled up with your pooch and been hit with a sudden craving for corn chips? You, my friend, are not alone! If you are a dog guardian and haven't noticed the snacky scent coming from your K9 companion, go have a quick sniff of Fido's feet and come on back, we'll wait.

Back? Weird right?!  There is actually way more to dogs than most people are aware of, so we've created a fun list of freaky facts that may shed some light on what's really going on with (wo)man's best friend.

  • Frito Feet: this yummy/gross smell is wafting off of Fido's feet due to the presence of bacteria and yeast living on the pads and in the skin folds of all four of your dog's paws.
  • Nose Prints: in the same way that humans can be identified through fingerprints, dogs nose prints serve as a unique identification tool, with no two dogs having the same nose print.
  • Sense of Time: Studies show varying results on the effect of passing time on dogs but most agree that the level of excitement related to the return of a pet parent after a separation increases in direct response to the length of the absence. There also seems to be an uncanny clockwork related to meal time that most pet parents can relate to!
  • Snout Length: Dogs with longer noses are less prone to overheating than their flat faced counterparts. This is called Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome and impacts airflow and panting, resulting in a reduced ability to cool the body.
  • May I?: The reason your pooch looks to you for approval is because of an instinct to have its actions approved by the pack leader. Try to make a habit of giving simple instructions, sit, stay, lie down and, remember your atta boys!

  • Shades of Grey: Contrary to popular belief, dogs are not color blind. What they do see is a full range of the color spectrum but it is dimmed in comparison to humans.
  • In the night time: Your dog can see when the sun isn't shining thanks to a membrane called the "tapetum lucidum", who knew!
  • Cover hog: You're not the only one balanced on the edge of the bed trying not to wake up your pooch, over 45% of pet parents "allow" their pups to share their beds.

  • Good Sir Knight: Bull Mastiffs used to accompany warring Knights into battle in Roman Times. They were geared up in armour and followed behind the Knight's brave steed.
  • Part of the family: When sending greeting cards, a reported 70% of pet parents sign their pet's name and almost 60% of families have their pets sit in for family portraits.
